Cape Town - Black Leopards and Kaizer Chiefs shared the spoils in an entertaining Premiership 1-1 draw at Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday.
It was a bright start to the contest by Chiefs and their good interplay would lead to an early goal for Andriamirado 'Dax' Andrianarimanana in the 10th minute.
After a superb series of passing between Willard Katsande, Bernard Parker and Kabelo Mahlasela - the ball was back-heeled into the path of 'Dax' who rifled in a shot which flew past King Ndlovu via a deflection.
The Madagascar star was proving to be dangerous with late runs from midfield and nearly grabbed a brace not long afterwards.
His strike, however, was well saved in the bottom right-hand corner by Ndlovu. Largely against the run of play Leopards managed to find an equaliser.
After a mistake by Lorenzo Gordinho in hauling down Lefa Hlongwane in the inside right channel, a free kick was awarded. Marks Munyai whipped in a superb curling delivery from which Hlongwane nodded home beyond a helpless Daniel Akpeyi.
Before the break, Lidoda Duvha had a glorious chance to take the lead when Karabo Tshepe played a one-two that saw him get behind Chiefs' defence.
He was one-on-one with Akpeyi but his square ball to Mwape Musonda was under-hit allowing Mario Booysen to make a last ditch tackle ahead of Mwape Musonda, with the goal gaping.
After the interval, 'Dax' again threatened in the 55th minute but his goal-bound strike was brilliantly blocked by Chris Katjukua.
Billiat not long afterwards showed pace to spin past his marker down the left before linking up with Kabelo Mahlasela. Yet, the Zimbabwe ace saw his shot blocked again by the brave Katjukua.
Leopards rallied and were within inches of a second goal - Joseph Mhlongo pulled the ball back to Tshepe who struck just wide with Akpeyi stranded.
The action quietened down in the closing stages though at the death Lesedi Kabinga fired just wide when anything on target may have resulted in a goal.
