PanARMENIAN.Net - During the first political consultations between Armenia and Zimbabwe, Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan and a delegation led by Albert Chimbindi, Permanent Secretary of Zimbabwe's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, discussed expanding the bilateral agenda.
Prospects for boosting cooperation in agriculture, education, information technology, capacity building, and trade and economic sectors were addressed.
The consultations were preceded by the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Armenian Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Zimbabwe on holding political consultations.
The interlocutors also stressed the importance of broadening cooperation between the two states on multilateral platforms and within international organizations, as well as deepening already established collaboration.
Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan presented Armenia's priorities in preparation for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, scheduled to be held in Yerevan in 2026. It was emphasized that the conference should ensure inclusive and multi-stakeholder participation to enable effective and targeted discussions on biodiversity and environmental protection.
The deputy minister also underscored the significant role of the Leaders' Summit planned within the framework of COP17.
The sides exchanged views on a wide range of regional and international issues of mutual interest, touching upon the process of institutionalizing peace in the South Caucasus, as well as recent developments in Sub-Saharan Africa.
